Parking resources on the Lewis & Clark campus are extremely limited. First year students in the undergraduate college are prohibited from having vehicles on campus. A limited number of waivers to this rule are available. You can view a summary of the policy and to apply for a waiver of the first year student vehicle prohibition here.
First year student who bring cars to campus under any circumstances without a waiver, are in violation of this rule and subject to parking fines and disciplinary action.
Neighborhood Parking – Students, faculty, and staff are not permitted to park on public streets in neighborhoods within the vicinity of the College. Violators will be cited.
To maintain the pedestrian-orientation of our campus, reduce greenhouse gas emissions and address City regulations, Lewis & Clark offers a variety of transportation options with the goal of minimizing single occupancy travel and reducing the need to build more parking lots. To assist students and the LC community in traveling to and from campus, several transportation options are available:
• Pioneer Express Shuttle – free shuttle service operates seven days a week during Fall and Spring semesters from downtown Portland to Lewis & Clark. Shuttle connects to numerous transfer points for Trimet buses, Max trains, and streetcars. Shuttle information along with the current schedule are published online here.
• Discount Trimet bus passes – Lewis & Clark subsidizes monthly bus passes and ticket books by 75%. Monthly bus pass cost is $25 and a 10-ride ticket book is $6.25. Bus schedules and system wide information and map can be found at Trimet’s web site.
• ZipCars – Lewis & Clark partners with Zipcar, Inc., a low cost car sharing program providing 24 hours access to a number of vehicles located on campus (open to students 18 years of age – including international drivers). Learn more here!
Transfer Students – Transfer students will automatically be listed in our database as first year students and must contact the Transportation & Parking office to change their status in order to purchase a parking pass. Parking passes are required Monday through Friday from 7 am to 7 pm while classes are in session.
Parking for Parents – Parents may park for free when visiting the campus, please stop by Campus Safety and request a guest pass.
