During its implementation, Situating the Global Environment promoted a number of innovative approaches in environmental scholarship, including:
- Situated research, which you can observe by browsing the site’s research projects.
- Social learning, which you can observe by browsing resources shared by our researchers.
The SGE site supported scholarship by readily storing and sharing a variety of resources added to SGE by our student and faculty scholars as a part of the research process. The diagram at right briefly summarizes these resources, and how they relate in a pyramid running from individual resources at bottom to synthetic resources at top.
Below is a concept map (Cmap) of how our researchers shared resources, and how they were dynamically aggregated on this site; due to the complexity of some of these pages (primarily mashups), they take awhile to load, but are cached on a daily basis to speed retrieval.
